ECCO(TM) Honored as 1994 MVP Award Winner; PC Computing Lauds ECCO Professional 2.0 for Usability and Value.

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 18, 1994--NetManage Inc., developers of ECCO An earlier Windows PIM from NetManage, Inc., Cupertino, CA (www.netmanage.com). ECCO provided a phone book, calendar, to-do list, outlining and notetaking. It was noted for its tightly integrated and sophisticated functions.  Professional 2.0, has announced that ECCO has been named a winner in PC Computing's 1994 Most Valuable Product (MVP (Multimedia Video Processor) A high-speed DSP chip from Texas Instruments, introduced in 1994. Officially introduced as the TMS320C80, it combines RISC technology with the functionality of four DSPs on one chip. ) awards competition.

ECCO Professional 2.0, the award-winning personal and group information manager, increases standalone and workgroup productivity, and enables workgroup users to easily schedule meetings, collaborate on projects, and access the latest group-related information through its group scheduling See calendaring. , multi-user Shared Calendars, PhoneBooks and Task Outlines, and file replication and synchronization. In addition, ECCO brings numerous advances to the individual user, including Shooter(TM), which allows instant integration with all other Windows applications.

ECCO Professional was selected by the magazine's editors as an MVP Award winner for its overall usability, reliability and value in the business environment. ECCO Professional has also distinguished itself as an MVP finalist for the last two years. In addition to the MVP Award, ECCO has won 12 major industry awards in the past 15 months, including PC Magazine's Editor's Choice Award, PC World's World Class Award, and was inducted into the PC Computing Usability Hall of Fame. In addition, InfoWorld gave ECCO its highest PIM (1) (Protocol Independent Multicast) A multicast routing protocol endorsed by the IETF. Used in conjunction with an existing unicast routing protocol, it comes in two flavors: Dense Mode (PIM-DM) is used when recipients in the target group are in a concentrated  rating, and Forbes Magazine recognized ECCO as its most highly recommended office software.

"We're delighted that ECCO has been named as a winner for PC Computing's 1994 MVP Product Awards, one of the industry's most sought-after recognitions," said Pete Polash, vice president of the NetManage ECCO division. "It's a major honor to win an award that focuses on usability and value," Polash concluded.

Joining ECCO Professional 2.0 as 1994 MVP Award winners are 37 other hardware, software and peripheral products chosen from 114 finalists in a record 38 product categories. To select this winner group, PC Computing's editors spent more than 100 hours in the magazine's usability and performance labs, considering and testing every major product in each of the categories.

"ECCO Professional, like all winners in this year's MVP Awards competition, is a stand-out in two respects," says PC Computing editor-in-chief Jon Zilber. "First, ECCO is a member of a very elite group: fewer than 2 percent of all the products we reviewed got the nod as MVP Award finalists. That's a distinction in and of itself," Zilber commented. "But second," he continued, "since the MVP award is the only computer award that honors usability, durability and functionality, ECCO excels in offering solutions for the way business people use computers today."
