ECA Honors Five Industry Leaders With Dr. Felix Zandman Award at CARTS USA; Organizers Consider 25th Symposium One of the Most Successful.ARLINGTON, Va. -- Five industry leaders were presented with the Dr. Felix Zandman Industry Leadership Award at the recent CARTS USA 2005, the 25th annual symposium for passive components. The event was sponsored by the Electronic Components, Assemblies & Materials Association (ECA ECA See: Export Credit Agency ) and organized by the Components Technology Institute (CTI (Computer Telephone Integration) Combining data with voice systems in order to enhance telephone services. For example, automatic number identification (ANI) allows a caller's records to be retrieved from the database while the call is routed to the appropriate party. ). The award is named after the founder, chairman and chief technical and business development officer of Vishay Intertechnology. It recognizes individuals who have made outstanding technical contributions to the passive electronic components industry. The inaugural award honored five individuals who have been active contributors to the industry during 25 years of CARTS: Dwayne Clemmer, Johanson Dielectrics; Michael Cozzolino, Boeing Satellite Systems; Gary Ewell, The Aerospace Corp.; Ralph Regner, MIT MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology Draper Laboratory; and William Serjak, Tantalum-Niobium International Study Center. "These individuals personify per·son·i·fy tr.v. per·son·i·fied, per·son·i·fy·ing, per·son·i·fies 1. "Attendees gave universally high ratings to this year's papers," says Leon Hamiter, a CARTS founder and president of CTI. "Everyone who attended left with deeper knowledge and understanding of key issues such as lead-free materials and processes, reliability and testing, applications, design and construction, and new technologies." Proceedings from this year's conference will be available at www.ecaus.org/carts. The 19th annual CARTS Europe will be held October 17 to 20 in Prague, and a CARTS Asia symposium is planned at the end of this year.
