Campbell, 32, who ran on a campaign of easing traffic around the city's busiest corridors, said his door-to-door canvassing made the difference for him.

``I walked the city three times during my campaign,'' Campbell said. ``I think the people realized I was personable PERSONABLE. Also in the runoff field Tuesday, restaurant owner restaurant owner ndueño/a or propietario/a de un restaurante  Gary Bric captured 22.6 percent and Brian Malone earned 11.3 percent of the votes. About 17.4 percent - 8,829 - of Burbank's 50,743 registered voters turned out for the runoff.

The two winners, who will serve four-year terms, take their seats on the five-member council on April 29.

Bric and Malone praised the winners for running clean races and both were supportive of Vander Borght and Campbell.

``I was very pleased for Jef,'' Malone said. ``I endorsed and supported him from day one. He brings balance and depth to the council.''

``I think you have two excellent council members,'' Bric said. ``They both ran excellent campaigns.''
