EASTERN AREA PONTIAC SALES UP IN NOVEMBER

PONTIAC, Mich., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Pontiac Division sales in the eastern area of the U.S. have been up every 10-day period since the beginning of the model year, posting a 42.2-percent increase for the month of November over the same period a year ago. This sales boost has helped push Pontiac's national sales for the month up 32.2 percent to 49,070 units and up 17 percent to 96,729 for the model year compared to the same periods last year.
Showing particular strength in the eastern sales area for November were the New York zone, up 85.3 percent and the Boston zone, up 35.4 percent.
The sporty Firebird, subcompact Sunbird and mid-size Grand Prix set the lively sales pace in the eastern area, posting sales increases of 279.3 percent, 69.3 percent and 67.3 percent, respectively, over the month a year ago.
Eastern Area Assistant General Sales and Service Manager Howard Christie points to Pontiac's competitive advantage as the reason for the sales increase: "We've had a great start for the 1994 model year and see it as a vote of confidence for the value every Pontiac offers in addition to programs like the affordable 3-year SmartDrive financing and Pontiac Cares worry-free ownership privileges."
