Sunrise service is a worship service on Easter. It takes the place of the Roman Catholic tradition of the Easter Vigil, and is practiced by mainly Protestant churches. using Vasquez Rocks Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park is a 905 acre (3 km²) northern Los Angeles County, California USA park acquired by LA County government in the 1970s. It is in the Agua Dulce vicinity between the Antelope Valley and the Santa Clarita Valley just north of Los Angeles and seen easily as a backdrop for a pageant of Roman soldiers, apostles and Jesus of Nazareth's crucifixion and resurrection. For the first time, a matinee Saturday afternoon will accomodate some of the 2,500 to 3,000 worshippers who crowd the county park every Easter morning. Because parking is limited, organizers suggest worshippers arrive early. Special parking is available for elderly and handicapped persons. Eight hundred chairs will be set out for worshippers on a first-come, first-served basis. Organizers suggest worshippers bring blankets. Admission is free, but a collection will be taken.
