The former EastEnders actress was on spin off programme Big Brother's Little Brother when she began talking about 30-year-old housemate Kat Kasisopa, evicted from the house last night.

Wendy, 65, said: "I was a big fan of Kat, and we would discuss it amongst our friends and they said she is not right.

"I looked at her through different eyes. and I have to admit they were right and I was wrong. She is fake, and she is very cute.

"What is it they say about these inscrutable Chinese? And she is Thai, but it is all Oriental isn't it?

Well it is to me anyway."

The TV audience cried out in shock and realising the comments could upset people, presenter George Lamb stepped in saying: "I don't think that is unique to Asian people, more to Kat."

But Tory voter Wendy added: "They don't betray their emotions on their face, that is what I meant." TV watchdogs Ofcom said it had received a number of complaints about Wendy's Monday night rant.

The spokesman said: "We will be looking into them in due course."

The comments were cut out of the repeat of the show on E4+1 by muffling the sound, but the clip is on websites and did not go down well with many BB viewers.

On YouTube, Mrs Lawson said: "She's like one of those daft OAPs in a shop's queue saying: "Bloody foreigners.'"

Another person calling themselves Arsifer wrote: "I couldn't believe my ears.
