EARL GREENBURG DEPARTS HOME SHOPPING NETWORK TO BECOME PRESIDENT
OF A NEW DIVISION OF KATZ/RUSH ENTERTAINMENT
LOS ANGELES, March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Emmy Award-winning producer Earl Greenburg has announced he will leave Home Shopping Network Inc., effective April 1, to join Katz/Rush Entertainment. Greenburg will be president of a new division focusing on "Hybrid Transactional Television" (HTTV), which will put a creative twist on interactive television.
Greenburg joined HSN in April 1991 as president of the newly formed subsidiary, Home Shopping Network Entertainment Inc., where he was responsible for the development and production of innovative, long-form commercials employing some of the top names in entertainment, including James Earl Jones, Annie Potts, Danny Glover and Connie Stevens. While at HSN, Greenburg also created Showcase Video Network, producing long- form commercials servicing the corporate arena, such as those recently broadcast for Volvo, Saturn and Weight Watchers.
The move to Katz/Rush marks Greenburg's return to his roots in original television production for network and syndication, and re-teams him with Herman Rush, for whom he worked at Columbia Pictures Television. "I'm looking forward to working with Ray Katz and Herman Rush on some exciting and entrepreneurial new programming concepts," said Greenburg. "Our combined resources and expertise in this venture position us as a unique and forward-thinking entertainment operation looking to break new ground in television programming genres."
"Herman and I have been looking for the right opportunity to work with Earl for some time now," said Katz. "He offers a rare combination of vision and creativity that fits well with our long-term goals."
In addition to writing and producing the Emmy Award-winning programs "Fantasy" and "The Regis Philbin Show" for NBC-TV, Greenburg's other credits include the series "Life's Most Embarrassing Moments" and "The Look of the Year," both for ABC-TV, the Saturday morning children's series "Flip" for CBS-TV, and the syndicated series "Don King's Only in America" and "It's a Great Life," with Robert Stack, which garnered four Emmy nominations. Greenburg also created the strip, "Day to Day Live," a joint production venture between HSN and ITC currently being cleared into first-run syndication for fall 1992.
Katz/Rush Entertainment is involved with "The Montel Williams Show" for first run syndication and produces "The New Original Amateur Hour," with Willard Scott for The Family Channel.
