EAGER IPHONE BUYERS WON'T BE ABLE TO CAMP OUT VALLEY'S APPLE STORES KEEP CUSTOMERS OUT UNTIL FRIDAY.

All the Valley's Apple stores are in malls, and none allows people inside overnight. Fans can stalk AT&T stores, but customers are limited to purchasing one iPhone when they go on sale at 6p.m.

At the mall, there's no need for overnight bags, thermoses of coffee or stacks of books to keep busy, either.

Instead, people with $500 or $600 to burn on the combo phone-Web browser-music player will line up at a respectable hour Friday morning.

The mall is next to homes and needs down time so retailers can receive deliveries, said Janet LaFevre, the Galleria's marketing director.

"It's more of a safety situation when we can queue people inside the shopping center shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into  as opposed to the parking area where they would be in the dark in a traffic area," LaFerve said.

The Galleria, home to the world's first Apple store, is expecting hundreds of people and will have extra security and maintenance workers on hand.

Northridge Fashion Center Northridge Fashion Center is a large shopping mall located in Northridge, California. It opened in 1971. It was severely damaged during the Northridge Earthquake in 1994, but renovated extensively in 1995 and 1998.  is allowing people to line up at 6 a.m. for the 10 a.m. opening.

Westfield Topanga in Canoga Park will escort customers waiting on the second level of the Owensmouth Garage near the dining terrace to the Apple store at 10a.m. A spokeswoman declined to say whether people would be allowed to line up any earlier.

The Oaks shopping center in Thousand Oaks may be one of the most accommodating places to wait. Customers will be able to peruse pe·ruse

Buyers can show up when they want and line up on the sidewalk outside the Cheesecake Factory. They will be let in at 8a.m. Friday.

The Apple store at Westfield Fashion Square Westfield Fashion Square, formerly Sherman Oaks Fashion Square, is a shopping mall in the Sherman Oaks area of Los Angeles, California. It is owned by The Westfield Group. It's anchor stores are Bloomingdale's and Macy's.  in Sherman Oaks may not have as many iPhones for sale because it is smaller than other stores.

The supply of iPhones at each Apple store will be tied to sales volume, AT&T spokesman Michael Coe said.

Mall officials there are not encouraging people to line up outside overnight, but they don't plan on asking people to leave if they show up, marketing director Karina Ovasapyan said.

"We can't send them away," Ovasapyan said.

If you are not buying an iPhone, AT&T is advising customers to stay away until the frenzy subsides, or to take care of shopping before stores close at 4:30 p.m. Friday to prepare for the 6 p.m. launch.
