Under the terms of the contract, EA will perform an environmental impact assessment/study of wastewater effluent and sludge disposal alternatives in support of Phase II of the Alexandria Wastewater Expansion Project (AWEP AWEP Afghan Women Empowerment Program ). The AWEP will expand Alexandria's existing sanitary wastewater treatment system to handle the central district of the city and will allow upgrade to the system treatment and disposal technology to protect human health and the natural environment. Under a contract with the United States Agency for International Development The United States Agency for International Development (or USAID) is the U.S. government organization responsible for most non-military foreign aid.
