E4 ships integrated 2D/3D/DVD solution to the PC market; OEM/VAR solution combines high-quality 2D/3D graphics and DVD.


PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 19, 1997--E4 today announced plans to ship an integrated, 2D/3D/DVD solution to the PC market.

The combination of E4's Cool3D and CoolDVD boards offer PC users the most advanced digital video and graphics solution available today. Cool3D Plus CoolDVD will ship to OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. Cool3D uses the latest high-performance chip from S3, the Virge GX, to provide high-quality 2D/3D graphics acceleration. The board fully supports Microsoft's DirectX drivers, including Direct3D. Hundreds of new 3D titles have shipped and are under development incorporating Microsoft's new 3D API.

CoolDVD uses the Chromatic Research Mpact chip and Mediaware software to support the full DVD specification, which includes MPEG2 video and Dolby(TM) AC-3 audio. It also features multiple language capability (8-track multilingual support), 32-track subtitle support, support for Pan & Scan and wide screen formats, multiple angle support, built-in encryption, and support for full VGA/DVD integration, including high-quality, scalable DVD video in a window. CoolDVD comes complete with a fully integrated movie player/control interface.

Cool3D Plus CoolDVD minimum system requirements for PC users are a Pentium 166MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock.
