E. KENT DAMON JR. APPOINTED ARCO'S SENIOR VP FOR ASIA/PACIFIC

 LOS ANGELES, July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- The appointment of E. Kent Damon Jr., to the new position of senior vice president, Asia/Pacific, was announced toda y by ARCO President and Chief Operating Officer Mike R. Bowlin.
 Damon, 50, is currently ARCO's senior vice president for Planning and Control. In his new assignment, which takes effect Aug. 2, Damon will be headquartered in Hong Kong.
 "ARCO has substantial business interests in the Asia/Pacific region," Bowl in noted. "Having a senior corporate officer on the scene will enable us to bett er assess new opportunities in our core business areas and improve the flow of information among our operating companies. It will also demonstrate to government and community leaders our commitment to the region."
 Damon, who grew up in Rochester, N.Y., was an economics major at Amherst College. He joined ARCO in 1972 after working as an investment analyst in New York.
 Damon has held a number of financial and management positions at ARCO, including Investment Relations manager, assistant treasurer, vice president of Finance and Administration for ARCO Transportation Co., and president of ARCO Investment Management Co. with responsibility for ARCO's employee pension and benefit plan assets.
 Damon was elected vice president and investment officer in 1985 and senior vice president in July 1990.
