Without doubt, storage networking has emerged as one of the highest-growth areas of the information technology market. However, before storage resource companies uncork the champagne, they might consider a nagging issue that won't won't

Most vendors and industry gurus say all is well, but end-users tell a different story. Too often, they suffer through SAN resource providers that won't work together. In some cases, it seems the vendors relish the situation. They employ shortsighted short·sight·ed

 strategies and refuse to simplify their technology, all in the name of promoting their own brand.

The vendors do have a point. How can you support multi-vendor SAN? Who will customers call when they are unable to manage their assets or get the desired performance from their storage network? It presents serious obstacles.

At the same time, should vendors expect customers to pay for solutions without support? Storage companies that celebrate based on optimistic op·ti·mist

Only deploy SANs that show signs of open architecture. Choose vendors who embrace their competition, such as E-Z-SAN, a consortium of 10 leading storage vendors with a single point of support.
