We use long term care sites, such as SNALF.com, to get information. The Internet has been very helpful in conducting research and quickly gathering information that might otherwise be very difficult to obtain. If I'm proposing a grant about doing a culture change in the nursing home and want to see what other facilities are doing, I can go online, type in a query, and then have 20 different places where I can gather information. In the past, you had to wait to have information mailed to you or spend hours in the library researching. Our Intranet is currently being built. To benchmark pressure ulcers in other 150-bed facilities, I go to the Nursing Home Compare at Medicare.gov. We also have manuals online, such as the Joint Commission, the HCFA guidelines, the survey process, nursing home regulations.
