SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 14, 2002

Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp. (E&S(R)) (Nasdaq:ESCC ESCC Eastern Shore Community College
ESCC East Sussex County Council
ESCC Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma
ESCC Enhanced Serial Communication(s) Controller
ESCC Electrically Self-Calibrating Cavity
) has been selected by the United Kingdom's Defence Procurement Agency The Defence Procurement Agency (DPA), was an Executive Agency of the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence responsible for the acquisition of materiel, equipment and services, for the British armed forces.  (DPA DPA - Data Protection Act ) to upgrade the United Kingdom Army's Unit Level Tactics Trainer(R), the company announced today. Under the terms of the agreement, E&S will serve as prime contractor to the DPA for the Midlife Update. Located at the School of Army Aviation, Middle Wallop Middle Wallop is the local name given to an area between the two Parishes of Over Wallop and Nether Wallop. Hampshire, England. As it does not have its own parish technically it does not exist, however road signs and maps make reference to the location and have done so since the , the current trainer, known as the Unit Level Tactics Trainer (ULTT ULTT Upper Limb Tension Test ), will be upgraded by replacing key components with those of the Mission Command Trainer(TM) (MCT See Microsoft certification. ).

The MCT is a low-cost tactics simulator (1) Software that enables the execution of an application written for a different computer environment. Same as emulator.

(2) Software that models the interactions of hypothetical or real-world objects or business processes.
that provides realistic mission command training, mission planning, and mission rehearsal in a virtual environment against an intelligent enemy, all in the safety and security of the classroom. Using real-world, high-fidelity databases, PC-based visual systems, and off-the-shelf components, the MCT allows students to experience maneuvers and battles while instructors observe and evaluate their performance. The system is designed to put the students in to a combat situation where, in order to survive, they have to get inside the enemy force commander's decision-making cycle, i.e., "outthinking the enemy." Each system features an instructor station networked together with six student stations. Fully reconfigurable, the system can be tailored to simulate all types of air or ground vehicles. In addition, its after-action review capabilities, where the entire scenario, including communications, can be replayed in real time, enable the instructors to debrief de·brief

The MCT upgrade will include replacing the existing image generators for both the student stations and the instructor station with PC-based Ensemble(TM) visual systems, adding sensor capabilities to the existing training databases, and porting the semi-automated forces feature from a Unix-based to a Linux-based PC system.

This upgrade is the continuation of a very successful long-term program with the Army," said E&S Simulation Systems Vice President Nick Gibbs Nicolas John "Nick" Gibb MP (born September 3 1960) is a British politician. He is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton. As of December 2005 Gibb holds the post of Shadow Minister of State for Schools in the Official Opposition (UK) . "The use of best-in-class technologies to meet specific training objectives and providing a seamless technology and capability upgrade path to meet changing customer needs have always been key elements of this program. This focus will continue with this upgrade. We also look forward to the continuation of our excellent relationship with the DPA and its IPT-based and results-focused acquisition process."
