) (E&S(R))--Thales (Thales Communications AG and Thales Training & Simulation) has selected the E&S simFUSION(R) 6000 PC image generator (PC-IG) for the Swiss Army's Tank Driving Simulator (FASPA FASPA Florida Association of School Personnel Administrators ) program, E&S announced today. For this program, Thales is supplying a state-of-the-art driver training system to the Swiss land forces for all of its armored vehicles. Under the terms of the agreement with Thales, E&S will supply 75 simFUSION 6000 PC image generators for the simulators. The first simulator is expected to be delivered to the customer in the fourth quarter of this year, with the whole program extending into the year 2005.

Thales conducted an extensive evaluation of different PC-IGs before choosing the simFUSION 6000. The evaluation included Thales benchmark performance measurements as well as image quality comparisons using the actual FASPA database. Thales selected simFUSION over other PC-IGs for its sustained update rate and its better image quality (antialiasing See anti-aliasing. , texture, etc.)

"The selection of the simFUSION 6000q was based on its superior performance, increased functionality, and, last but not least, its affordability," said Hans-Peter Haller, Thales FASPA program manager. "Also, the demonstrations we made to our customer representatives were well received."
