E&S EPX-50 Selected for Common Driver Trainer/Stryker Variant Program.SALT LAKE CITY -- Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp. (E&S(R)) (Nasdaq: ESCC ESCC Eastern Shore Community College ESCC East Sussex County Council ESCC Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma ESCC Enhanced Serial Communication(s) Controller ESCC Electrically Self-Calibrating Cavity ) announced today that the company has been selected to provide its EPX EPX Enterprise Private Exchange (TM)-50 visual system for the Common Driver Trainer (CDT CDT abbr. Central Daylight Time CDT Central Daylight Time CDT n abbr (US) (= Central Daylight Time) → hora de verano del centro; (BRIT )/Stryker Variant Program. The contract was awarded by FAAC FAAC Freeware Advanced Audio Coder FAAC Ford Amateur Astronomy Club FAAC Family Allergy and Asthma Care FAAC Functional Area Agreement Coordinator (USAF) FAAC Fatal Accident Assessment Committee Inc., Ann Arbor Ann Arbor, city (1990 pop. 109,592), seat of Washtenaw co., S Mich., on the Huron River; inc. 1851. It is a research and educational center, with a large number of government and industrial research and development firms, many in high-technology fields such as , Mich., and includes nine out-the-window visual systems and five instructor/operator systems. The prime contractor is SAIC SAIC - http://saic.com. , and the end user is the U.S. Army. This order follows the recent CCTT CCTT Close Combat Tactical Trainer (US Army) CCTT Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists (Ottawa, ON, Canada) CCTT Covert Channel Tunneling Tool CCTT Career Connection to Teaching with Technology win and solidifies E&S' position in the ground warfare PC-based simulation market. The CDT will serve several different vehicle platforms, including tracked vehicles, wheeled vehicles, and heavy machinery, and will provide realistic and challenging training under simulated diverse weather and visibility conditions. The Stryker vehicle is the first variant for the CDT and will enable training in the critical driver tasks that can be repetitively trained in a simulator, but are dangerous and infrequently trained in the real world, such as driving on ice, fording streams, driving under blackout conditions, and driving down a steep embankment when coming off an improved road. "Integration of the EPX-50 platform using the Common Image Generator Interface CIGI can also refer to the Centre for International Governance Innovation. Common Image Generator Interface (CIGI) is an interface designed to promote a standard way for a host device to communicate with an image generator (IG) in the simulation industry. enables a high-performance rendering option to be offered as part of the CDT framework," said Kurt A. Flosky, executive vice president of FAAC and CDT deputy program manager under SAIC. "The EPX-50, in addition to its compatibility with the Army's CCTT program, provides high-resolution and 60-Hz update rate using complex databases ideally suited for the image generation needs of the Stryker Variant CDT simulators." "The EPX-50 continues to deliver on the promise of advanced PC-based simulation, and the broad acceptance of EPX software is very rewarding," said E&S Simulation Systems General Manager Nick Gibbs. EPX-50 uses E&S' Environment Processor software with military extensions (EPX) and runs on standard PC hardware equipped with state-of-the-art commercially available graphics accelerators. About EPX Evans & Sutherland's EPX software is designed to deliver flexibility, responsiveness and performance for the most demanding military training requirements. EPX software runs on hardware with a range of prices and capabilities, allowing customers to select the right hardware platform for their specific training missions. The unique, layered architecture An architecture in which data moves from one defined level of processing to another. Communications protocols are a primary example. See OSI model. of the software enhances reliability and allows rapid database creation and update from source materials. Since EPX databases are delivered as source data, the same data can be used in multiple applications and updated incrementally as new source materials become available. EPX offers ESIG ESIG European Solvents Industry Group ESIG Environmental and Societal Impacts Group (US National Center for Atmospheric Research) ESIG Electronic Signature ESIG Ecole SupĂ©rieure d'Informatique de Gestion (R)/CIGI host compatibility, which makes it easier to upgrade existing simulators to a new visual system. In addition, all EPX products are equipped with a 3D whole-earth terrain model and delivered with three high-resolution insets to allow training to begin immediately. About Evans & Sutherland Evans & Sutherland produces professional hardware and software to create highly realistic visual images for simulation, training, engineering and other applications throughout the world. E&S visual systems are used in both military and commercial systems, as well as planetariums and interactive theaters. Visit the E&S Web site at http://www.es.com.
