"Hardware performance of several key components, including CPUs and VPUs, has increased significantly in the past year," said E&S Marketing Director Jan Bjernfalk. "When combined with the numerous software enhancements we have included in this system, simFUSION 6500 offers twice the performance of the simFUSION 6000 when it was released at this time last year and significantly better performance than any other image generator in this price range."

"With simFUSION 6500, E&S continues to offer the best graphics acceleration technology in the industry backed by the most extensive simulation expertise in the industry," said Nick Gibbs, E&S Simulation Systems general manager. "Since its introduction in 1999, we have shipped thousands of simFUSION systems to customers throughout the world. Today, our customers can take advantage of simFUSION performance in three ways -- simFUSION running third-party applications, a complete turnkey system with our EPX EPX Enterprise Private Exchange (TM) software, and our design visualization solution called RenderBeast(TM)."

A novel symmetric graphics multiprocessing architecture allows the four VPU's in each chassis to appear as a single device to application software, which greatly eases application portability and system administration. Genlock to internal or external video is standard, and all configurations have 256MB of unified memory for the graphics subsystem. The DVI input allows multiple chassis to be cascaded for higher performance or additional antialiasing (AA) samples. Sensor options and distortion correcting/edge blending cards are available.
