E&S Awarded $8.9M Order for Combat Trainer Visual Upgrade Program.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp. (E&S(R)) (NASDAQ: ESCC) announced today that it has been awarded a follow-on order in the amount of $8.9M by the U.S. Army's Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO-STRI) to update additional visual systems for its Close Combat Tactical Trainer (CCTT) Program. This order exercises an option from the initial 2004 production contract, awarded in January for 111 systems, which consisted of more than 1,000 PC-based visual channels. The new order is for 230 systems with more than 2,000 channels. E&S' EPX(TM)-50 image generator was selected on the original contract as a result of a rigorous competitive evaluation of a number of PC-based solutions. EPX-50 uses E&S' revolutionary Environment Processor software with military extensions (EPX) and runs on standard PC hardware equipped with state-of-the-art commercially available graphics accelerators.

The CCTT visual upgrade program was awarded through PEO-STRI's Omnibus contract. The contract, known as STOC, prequalified E&S and a number of other companies for contracts with PEO-STRI. The CCTT program has fielded nearly 450 simulators to provide tactical training for combined-arms battlefield situations for heavy forces (heavy armor, fighting vehicles and cavalry units).
