Dynamic Mobile Data's State-Of-The-Art Network Operations Center Wirelessly Enables Legacy Systems Over the Internet.

) announces the availability of an XML agent that resides on the customer's server and enables the translation of data transmissions between the originating system and the DMD Network Operations Center See NOC.

Network Operations Center - (NOC) A location from which the operation of a network or internet is monitored. Additionally, this center usually serves as a clearinghouse for connectivity problems and efforts to resolve those problems.
(NOC (Network Operations Center) A central or regional location for monitoring a large network. Also called a "network management center" (NMC), "service management center" (SMC) or "network control center" (NCC), a NOC may be used to manage a large enterprise network, ).

While legacy systems are sufficient for basic transactions, they do not give companies instant access to mission-critical data. Companies with existing systems can now leverage the power of the Internet to wirelessly enhance those systems with near real-time transactions.

Today, customers are using the XML agent to interface to DMD's MobileDispatch(TM) Data Services (MDDS MdDS Mal de Debarquement Syndrome

MDDS Multi-Domain Dissemination System (PACOM)
MDDS Mission Data Distribution System

) in order to have the latest in dispatch technology without the hassle or expense of legacy system alteration or software customization.

"Companies with older dispatch systems find that it is too expensive to upgrade, because it requires replacing hardware and software from the server to individual terminals," said Chuck Feldman, DMD's president and COO. "DMD's XML agent allows those companies to take advantage of the latest MobileDispatch technology without replacing the entire legacy system."

Programmers will also find the XML agent useful in speeding up development time and reducing the complexity of interfacing to DMD's ASP services.

"We've done the hard part," said Feldman. "MDDS has broken down the barriers between databases and it is very extensible."

DMD provides the customer with the file layout specifications and gives them the ability to generate alternative file layouts using the MDDS Document Type Definition (DTD (Document Type Definition) A language that describes the contents of an SGML document. The DTD is also used with XML, and the DTD definitions may be embedded within an XML document or in a separate file. ). The DTD validates the data and the XML file is sent to the MDDS server. Once the data is processed, the MDDS server sends the data back to the legacy server to be used for reporting or applications, as desired.
