HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 22, 2002

Dynacq International Inc. (Nasdaq:DYII) has been ranked #2 among "Fortune's 100 Fastest Growing Companies" in the upcoming (September September: see month. ) issue of Fortune Magazine. The rankings are based upon a three-year annual rate of growth in earnings per share, revenues and total return.

In the (July/August) issue of Fortune Small Business magazine, Dynacq was ranked #2 among "America's Fastest Growing Small Companies." Last year Dynacq was ranked #3 by the publication.
