HOUSTON--(BW HealthWire)--Jan. 14, 2002

Dynacq International Inc. (Nasdaq:DYII) reported record revenue and earnings for the first fiscal quarter ending Nov. 30, 2001, with a 42% increase in net income from $2,372,119 to $3,377,615. Net revenue increased by $4,950,003 or 56%. Basic earnings per share were $0.23 as compared to $0.17 the prior year, a 35% increase.

Total revenue and earnings were the largest for any quarter in Dynacq's history.
