Dynacq Announces Opening New Specialty Surgical Hospital in Louisiana.

Vista Surgical Hospital of Baton Rouge, the area's first specialty surgical hospital, was granted licensure by the State of Louisiana on Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, and the first surgical cases were performed today, announced Chiu M. Chan, chairman and CEO of Dynacq International Inc. (Nasdaq:DYII).

The opening of the new hospital is an important milestone in Dynacq's growth plan of developing new hospitals in multiple locations. Additional facilities are in the planning stage in both Louisiana and Texas.

The 50,000 square foot acute care facility includes four operating rooms, two procedure rooms with pre- and post-operative units, an intensive care unit and extensive diagnostic equipment and a thirty-nine (39) bed nursing unit.
