Dylan's Candy Bar slated for LI. (Retail New York).


Robert K. Futterman & Associates, LLC has completed a 4,800-SF lease for boutique candy retailer Dylan (DYnamic LANguage) An object-oriented programming language developed at Apple in the late 1980s with assistance from Harlequin Group plc, Carnegie Mellon University and others. Dylan was designed to provide the simplicity of Smalltalk with the efficiency of C++. Apple later abandoned the project, but Harlequin continued its development and offers personal and professional editions of the language with support for COM and CORBA.'s Candy Bar, LLC at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, N.Y.

Karen Bellantoni, senior managing director with RKF, and Victor Fandel of Fandel Retail Group, represented Dylan's Candy Bar in the 10-year lease transaction. Simon Property Group, the owner of the 2.2 million-SF Roosevelt Field Mall, was represented in-house by Jim O'Brien.

The new store, which represents the second new location for Dylan's Candy Bar outside of New York City, is scheduled to open in June. It will include a party room for childrens' candy-themed birthday parties. RKF recently completed a lease for a 4,500-SF Dylan's Candy Bar at Houston Galleria in Houston.

"The Roosevelt Field Mall's significant volume of shoppers and its proximity to the affluent towns of Great Neck, Manhasset and Rosyln make it an ideal location for Dylan's Candy Bar," said Bellantoni. "The demographics of the mall are a perfect match for this hip candy emporium."

Dylan's Candy Store is co-owned by Dylan Lauren, the daughter of fashion icon Ralph Lauren, and Jeff Rubin, who created FAQ FAQ - Frequently Asked Question(s)
