S&N, maker of Newcastle Brown, owns half of Russia's leading brewer, Baltic Beverages Holding, which has a market share of around 33pc and runs 10 breweries in the country. Russia is seen as a key growth market for beer consumption as customers switch from traditional drinks such as vodka. Now Heineken is expanding its presence there.
