 (for "Kramer vs Kramer" and "Rainman") will receive the first Distinguished Actor Award from the Costume Designers Guild The Costume Designers Guild (CDG) was founded in 1953 by a group of 30 motion picture costume designers. As of 1999, its membership includes motion picture, television, commercial, and stage costume designers throughout the world and totals some 470 members.  (CDG (CDMA Development Group, Costa Mesa, CA, www.cdg.org) A membership organization founded in 1995 that promotes CDMA wireless systems worldwide. It is involved with developing new features and services and promoting standards that provide global compatibility and interoperability. ) during the organization's Fifth Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards on Sunday, March 16, at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel, it was announced today by CDG President Deborah Nadoolman Landis.

"The CDG is most proud to present its first Distinguished Actor Award to Dustin Hoffman, a most worthy recipient. From 'The Graduate' through his other great performances in 'Midnight Cowboy,' 'Little Big Man,' 'All the President's Men,' 'Tootsie,' 'Lennie' and dozens of other films and from his distinguished work on Broadway and television that included a Drama Desk and Emmy Award for 'Death of a Salesman,' Hoffman has shown himself to be a true American icon; an actor for the ages," said Landis.

Hoffman is also the winner of six Golden Globe Awards, four BAFTA Baf´ta

CDG will soon announce other honorary awards for Career Achievement in Television, a new President's Award, and induction of three famed Costume Designers into its Hall of Fame.

CDG Awards Co-chairs are Lois DeArmond, Robin Richesson and Bonnie Nipar. Sponsors of this year's CDG Awards include Bvlgari and International Creative Management.
