International Dunlap Minerals Corporation ("Dunlap"), is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement to acquire a 93 percent fully participating joint venture interest in an application for a Kuasa Pertambangan exploration authorization ("KP209") over an area covering 2,733 hectares located in the northwestern portion of Flores Island Flores Island may refer to:

Dunlap is acquiring its interest in KP209 from PT Menara Reparindo Citra ("Menara") which is an affiliate of Mutiara Resources Corporation Pte Ltd., a privately-held Singapore company, which currently holds approximately 34.2 percent of the issued and outstanding common shares of the Corporation. In consideration for the acquisition of its interest in KP209, Dunlap will reimburse Menara for its costs and expenses incurred to date in connection with KP209, of approximately Cdn. $143,000.

The KP209 area of interest, located on the north western side of Flores Island, lies 22 kilometres south west of the northern coastal town of Reo. KP209 covers several abandoned manganese mines where work by Dunlap has outlined potential for discovering gold-silver polymetallic occurrences related to shallow submarine hot springs deposits. Examples of this type of deposit include Eskay Creek, Canada and Wetar Island, Indonesia near Flores Island.

Work to date has defined several areas of interest comprising zones up to 600 metres long and 150 metres wide of ferruginous ferruginous /fer·ru·gi·nous/ (fe-roo´ji-nus)

Dunlap will commence a field program before the end of June, 1997 which will include geological mapping, detailed rock and soil geochemical sampling and trenching. Ground geophysics will be carried out if warranted and drill targets selected on the basis of results. In conjunction with this, a regional exploration program within the KP209 area will be carried out and other opportunities evaluated in the district.

The acquisition of an interest in KP209 complements Dunlap's existing 10 percent interest in a sixth generation Contract of Work covering approximately 975,133 hectares on Flores Island, which interest is held pursuant to a joint venture agreement between Dunlap and a subsidiary of Barrick Gold Corporation. Dunlap holds one of the largest mineral tenure positions on Flores Island in Indonesia and holds varying interests in a total of approximately 1.33 million hectares of prospective mineral properties located throughout Indonesia.

The acquisition of KP209 is subject to regulatory approval.
