Duncan Electronics Introduces Cost-Effective Dual Output Hall Effect Sensor Featuring Non-Contacting Technology.

Business Editors & High-Tech Writers

TUSTIN, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 2001

Duncan Electronics, a division of BEI Bei (pā, bā), river, c.200 mi (320 km) long, formed by the union of two headstreams in the Nanling Mts., N Guangdong prov., S China. It flows S into the Xi River, E of Guangzhou, to form the Pearl River delta.  Technologies Inc., has introduced the 9900 Dual Output Hall Effect Rotary Sensor featuring rugged, non-contacting position sensing technology.

Designed with two sensors in one compact package for the optimum combination of redundancy and cost economics, the Model 9900 offers Hall effect electronics built within a rigid enclosure to withstand the harshest off-highway conditions and demanding industrial applications.

This redundant device offers two independent, fully programmable outputs that allow for offset, gain, slope and temperature compensation. The 9900 Sensor includes a programmable Hall chip set that can be custom configured to meet the exacting application requirements for complete flexibility.

Featuring a housing with an integral connector, the 9900 Sensor provides a liquid tight, fully sealed package. Mechanical travel is +/- 90(degree) with typical active electrical angle of +/- 45(degree), including both clockwise and counterclockwise rotations Noun 1. counterclockwise rotation - rotation to the left

gyration, revolution, rotation - a single complete turn (axial or orbital); "the plane made three rotations before it crashed"; "the revolution of the earth about the sun takes one year"
. Custom specification electrical travel designs are also available.

The 9900 Sensor incorporates a symmetrical set of rotating magnets with fixed sensor configuration for improved accuracy and reliability. Standard features include an operating temperature range of -40(degree)C to +85(degree)C with even wider ranges available from -40(degree)C to +125(degree)C upon customer specification.

Accuracy is +/-2% of full scale at room temperature and +/-3% of full scale over-operating temperature range.

Other outstanding performance characteristics include mechanical life rated to 35 million full cycles. The rugged device can withstand 5 Gs vibration, 60-2,000 Hz; 50 Gs shock, and half sine pulse of 5msec duration. The 9900 is connector compatible to industry standard Packard Electric METRI-Pack 150 series for easy plug-in installation. The device also features industry standard EMC (1) (EMC Corporation, Hopkinton, MA, www.emc.com) The leading supplier of storage products for midrange computers and mainframes. Founded in 1979 by Richard J. Egan and Roger Marino, EMC has developed advanced storage and retrieval technologies for the world's largest companies.  protection.

About BEI Duncan Electronics

BEI Duncan Electronics is an operating division of BEI Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq:BEIQ). BEI is an established manufacturer of electronic sensors and motion control products used for factory and office automation, medical and scientific equipment, military, aviation and space systems, and transportation equipment including automobiles, trucks and off-road equipment.

The company's product portfolio includes optical encoders, brushless DC motors, voice coil A type of motor used to move the access arm of a disk drive in very small increments. Like the voice coil of a speaker, the amount of current determines the amount of movement. Contrast with stepper motor, which works in fixed increments.  actuators, potentiometric position sensors A position sensor is any device that enables position measurement. It can either be an absolute position sensor or a relative one(displacement sensor). Position sensors can be either linear or angular. , silicon microelectomechanical system (MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical Systems) Tiny mechanical devices that are built onto semiconductor chips and are measured in micrometers.
