The announcement, which was made at the White House Conference on Small Business in Washington, D.C., included a demonstration of D&B's forum on MSN. "Dun & Bradstreet understands the power of providing instant access to information electronically and being able to deliver it in a compelling way," says Frank Fitzsimmons Frank Fitzsimmons (August 7, 1907 – May 6, 1981), was President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters from Jimmy Hoffa's conditional pardon in 1971 until his own death from cancer in 1981. , vice president of Portfolio Applications & Marketing at Dun & Bradstreet Information Services. "That's why we're very pleased to team with Microsoft and be a content provider on The Microsoft Network. MSN's ability to reach millions of businesses worldwide will make it one of the preeminent online services."

The Microsoft Network will provide the foundation for a wide variety of targeted products and services from Microsoft and third-party companies. One of MSN's initial goals is to work with small and start-up companies that can take advantage of MSN online technology to build their businesses.

The majority of D&B's content on MSN will be derived from its credit, marketing and purchasing information on more than 11 million U.S. businesses, as well as its worldwide database of 39 million establishments in more than 200 countries. Companies use the risk-management information to assess a business' credit worthiness, predict the likelihood of payment, review a business' management background as well as its history and operations, monitor key accounts and analyze a company's financial strength.
