Dumping investigations into BPA again.

On August 30th, 2006, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) made an announcement, deciding to launch dumping investigation from August 30th 2006 into the import of bisphenol A originated from Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan province. The duration of the dumping investigation is from April 1st, 2005 to March 31st, 2006. The duration of the industrial injury investigation is from January 1st, 2003 to March 31st, 2006. Bisphenol A has a tariff code of 29072300.

On July 10th, 2006, MOC received an application submitted by ChemChina Bluestar New Chemical Materials Co., Ltd. on half of the bisphenol A sector in China for an industrial injury investigation.

According to customs statistics, China imported 57 529 tons, 60 193 tons, 11 251 tons and 79 279 tons of bisphenol A from Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan province in 2005, the import price was US$1 638 per ton, US$1 505 per ton, US$1 614 per ton and US$1 546 per ton respectively. China imported 12 548 tons, 18 354 tons, 7 278 tons and 41 179 tons of bisphenol A from Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan province from January to March 2006, the import price was US$1 296 per ton, US$1 198 per ton, US$1 518 per ton and US$1 144 per ton respectively.

The market pace of bisphenol A in East China and North China was RMB14 000-15 000 per ton in August 2006.

Two years ago, it was also in response to the application submitted by ChemChina Bluestar New Chemical Materials Co., Ltd. that MOC decided to launch dumping investigation from May 12th, 2004 into the import of bisphenol A originated from Japan, Russia, Singapore, Korea and Taiwan province. MOC, however, announced on November 7th, 2005 to cease the dumping investigation into the import of bisphenol A. (CCR2005, No. 33)
