Dump truck falls into river, kills driver.


A Delta Sand & Gravel employee died Tuesday afternoon when his dump truck fell off a bridge and into the Willamette River Willamette River

Police are investigating why the large Cat dump truck veered off the single-lane bridge, located on the company's property on Division Avenue, and into the river just after 1 p.m., sheriff's Sgt. Clint Riley said.

Sheriff's search and rescue coordinator John Miller went into the water, and freed the man from the truck after several attempts, Riley said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

His name is being withheld pending family notification.
