BEAVERTON - Luke Ridnour Lucas Robin (Luke) Ridnour (born February 13 1981 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) is an American professional basketball player for the Seattle SuperSonics of the NBA. He was born in Idaho and grew up in Blaine, Washington. , Steven Jackson, Blake Stepp, Becky Holliday and Daria Panova are among the nominees for the Bill Hayward amateur athlete of the year Athlete of the Year

 awards to be handed out during the Oregon Sports Awards this evening at 7 at the Tiger Woods Center at Nike Inc.

Ridnour, Jackson and Stepp are finalists for the top amateur male award along with Stanford cross country runners Ian Dobson and Grant Robison.

Ridnour was the Pac-10 men's basketball player of the year for Oregon last year before leaving for the NBA NBA

 women's pole vault title for the Ducks, is a finalist for the top amateur female award along with Panova, who was an all-American tennis player for Oregon in singles and doubles. Georgia softball player Nicole Barber and University of Portland The University of Portland (UP) is a private Catholic university located in Portland, Oregon. It is specifically affiliated with the Congregation of Holy Cross and is the sister school of the University of Notre Dame. Founded in 1901, UP has a student body of about 3,200 students.  soccer standouts Christine Sinclair and Lindsey Huie are also finalists.

Holliday is one of several track stars from the Eugene/Springfield area to be nominated for an award this evening.

Former Springfield resident Maria Mutola and Eugene's Marla Runyan are finalists for the Harry Glickman professional female athlete of the year award.

 Tom Pappas is a nominee for the male professional athlete award, along with former UO golfers Peter Jacobsen and Ben Crane. Ex-OSU football standouts Chad Johnson and Nick Barnett also are nominated.

Oregon basketball coach Ernie Kent is nominated for the Slats Gill award for top coach, and Oregon's softball team is up for the George Pasero team award.

Luke Hogle, the former Thurston wrestler who is competing at Cornell, is a nominee for the Johnny Carpenter male prep athlete of the year award.

Elmira senior softball standout Alicia Cook is a nominee for the girls' Carpenter award along with Philomath's multi-sport star Brianna Anderson-Gregg and Taft softball star Ashley Birdsong birdsong. Song, call notes, and certain mechanical sounds constitute the language of birds. Song is produced in the syrinx, whose firm walls are derived from the rings of the trachea, and is modified by the larynx and tongue. .
