wanted the work. His team, on the other hand, needed a pin.

So that's exactly what he delivered.

Barker's six-point victory in the second-to-last match gave Oregon a five-point lead, and the Ducks held on to defeat Boise State 25-23 in Pac-10 Conference wrestling at McArthur Court McArthur Court is a basketball arena located on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene. Also known as "The Pit," it is known as one of the toughest arenas in the country for opposing players to play in. The arena is named for Clifton N.  on Friday night.

The victory was Oregon's first dual meet win of the conference season and helped make up for a 42-0 loss to the Broncos last season.

It was also Oregon's first win against Boise State in seven seasons.

Spotted 12 points thanks to a pair of Boise State forfeits, the Ducks (4-5 overall, 1-3 Pac-10) still found themselves in a 20-12 hole with four matches remaining.

Third-ranked Shane Webster (16-1) began to turn Oregon's fortunes with a 13-4 major decision in the 174-pound match, and Chet McBee (9-11) followed with a decision at 184 pounds to help the Ducks trim Boise State's lead to 20-19.

Next up was Barker (23-4) at 197. The fifth-ranked senior needed all of one minute to get the pin and put UO up 25-20 before heavyweight Chris Dearmon lost a decision to No. 16 Eric Smith Notable people named Eric Smith have included:

of Boise State in the final match.

"I went out there, had a good shot, worked my stuff, and overall it was a pretty easy match, to be honest. I'd be lying if I said it was a tough one," Barker said. "It was definitely a critical pin.

`If the team didn't need it, I would have probably tried to get some work out of it and maybe went for a (technical fall) instead. But once I got him down I figured I'd be a good team player and get the pin."

The Broncos (3-5, 1-1) forfeited for·feit

Thus, the Broncos won by technical fall at 149 and got pins at 157 and 165.

"Winning feels better than losing."
