Ducks fifth in men's golf.

WALLA WALLA Walla Walla (wŏl`ə wŏl`ə), city (1990 pop. 26,478), seat of Walla Walla co., SE Wash., at the junction of the Walla Walla River and Mill Creek, near the Oregon line; inc. 1862. , Wash. - Oregon's Justin St. Clair finished fifth in the medalist race, leading the Ducks to fifth place at the Pac-10 men's golf championships on Wednesday.

St. Clair, a junior from Thurston High, shot an even-par 71 to finish at 2-under 282 and tied for fifth with Brandon Beck of California.

It was the best individual finish for an Oregon golfer at the conference meet since Jeff Lyons finished fourth in 1992.

It was also the first time the Ducks have finished in the top half of the conference standings since placing fifth in 2002.

The Ducks shot a 355, even par, on Wednesday to finish with a score of 1,436, two strokes ahead of Stanford.

Four Oregon golfers finished in the top 20, the first time that has occurred since 1999.

Matt Ma finished tied for 14th at 1-over 285, Gregg LaVoie finished 17th at 286, and walk-on Jay Snyder finished 19th at 287.
