Ducks blank Portland State in home finale.

Alicia Cook struck out seven in just over three innings of work Tuesday as Oregon defeated Portland State 4-0 in the Ducks' final home softball game of the season.

Ashley Richards drove in Lovena Chaput in the first inning, and Ann Marie Topps, Kayleen Hudson and Suzie Barnes drove in runs in a three-run third inning for the Ducks, who improved to 30-19 overall.

Topps was 2-for-2 for Oregon. Cook and starting pitcher Lindsey Kontra held Portland State (17-28) to five hits.

UO's Harris, OSU's Allen

honored by Pac-10

Oregon junior Amy Harris has been named the Pac-10 Conference softball pitcher of the week for April 26-May 2, league commissioner Tom Hansen announced on Tuesday.

The right-hander from Eugene pitched 28 innings, including 14 in a 17-inning game against Arizona State, and allowed no earned runs. Harris totaled 28 strikeouts and three walks in three games.

Lisa Allen, a junior catcher for Oregon State who batted .462, drove in five runs and hit a grand slam, was named the Pac-10 player of the week.

Beavers beat Portland

in nonleague baseball

CORVALLIS - Tenth-ranked Oregon State erased a 2-1 deficit with five runs in fifth and sixth innings for a 6-2 nonleague baseball victory over the University of Portland on Tuesday.

Mike Lissman was 3-for-5 and Nate Fogle allowed just two hits in 4 2/3 innings of relief for the Beavers (33-8 overall).

Lane drops three

NWAACC baseball games

Lane suffered three losses to Clackamas on Tuesday in Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges baseball.

The Titans lost 4-3 in the completion of an earlier game that was delayed due to darkness. They then dropped 4-2 and 1-0 decisions to the Cougars to fall to 18-16 overall and 12-10 in the Southern Division.

in conference track meet

SPOKANE - Lane Community College's Monica Teeple and Clint Hickey posted top-five finishes Tuesday in the multi-events competition at the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges meet.

Teeple finished third in the heptathlon with 4,267 points. Community Colleges of Spokane's Molly Burt won with 4,799 points.

Hickey was fifth in the decathlon with 5,842 points. Highline Community College's Ricky Moody won with 6,473.

OSU sets date

for wrestling banquet

CORVALLIS - Oregon State will hold its annual wrestling awards banquet on May 15 in the Valley Football Center. Cost for the buffet dinner at 5 p.m. is $14 per person.
