With only two weeks left to prepare for the 2007 Pac-10 Cross Country Championships in Corvallis, the top-ranked Oregon men have decided to bypass this week's Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute Terre Haute (tĕr`ə hōt, tĕr`ē hŭt), city (1990 pop. 51,483), seat of Vigo co., W Ind., on the Wabash River; inc. 1816. , Ind.

Rupp, who placed sixth at last year's NCAA cross country meet, will open his season on Oct. 27 at the Pac-10 championships at Trysting Tree Golf Club. The UO junior set the Clackamas course record of 18 minutes, 40 seconds last season.

The third-ranked UO women's team will follow a similar path this week. The Ducks will send Hayley Belli, Betsy Bies, Zoe Buckman, Brooke Giuffre, Erin Lewis, Claire Michel, Zoe Nelson, Sarah Pearson, Keara Sammons and Bria Wetsch to Clackamas for the 5,000-meter race at 11:45 a.m.

Oregon's Nicole Blood and Alex Kosinski, who placed first and third, respectively, at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, will train through the meet.

The Oregon State women's team will also compete at Clackamas. The Beavers are expected to enter a full team, including former Sheldon standouts Casey Masterson and Holly Thomson and North Bend's Megan Hibner.

LOS ANGELES - Fourth-ranked UCLA found its hitting rhythm in the third game and survived a marathon fourth to down No. 19 Oregon 31-29, 22-30, 30-24, 36-34 in Pac-10 volleyball on Thursday.

The Ducks (14-5, 3-4 Pac-10), who dropped their third straight match to a top-10 team, hit .291 overall and were led by Sonja Newcombe's 24 kills and Gorana Maricic's 21. Ali Daley led the Bruins (15-2, 5-1) with 19 kills. UCLA hit .500 in the pivotal third game and .356 in the final.

Wagner joins Vikings as director of operations

PORTLAND - Former Oregon basketball player and Springfield High product Chelsea Wagner has been named director of operations for the Portland State women's basketball program by first-year head coach Sherri Murrell.

Wagner will coordinate the Vikings' community and booster relations and edit film along with other administrative duties.

Wagner earned honorable mention to the Pac-10 all-conference team as a senior in 2005-06, when she was named the Ducks' MVP (Multimedia Video Processor) A high-speed DSP chip from Texas Instruments, introduced in 1994. Concordia holds Beacons to two shots in 8-0 victory

PORTLAND - Alex Ponce scored a hat trick and Tyler Camp added two goals in Concordia University's 8-0 men's soccer win over Northwest Christian on Thursday.

Greg Erickson and Andrew Burkhart had the only two shots for the Beacons (1-10).
