Dubai Women Establishment (DWE) recently hosted the latest edition of the Al-Emaratia forum, as part of DWE's U.A.E Women Leadership Program, in partnership with the "Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development" (MBRCLD).

The focus for this installment of the Al-Emaratia forum was "Public Policy in the Little Red Dot", referring to the Public Policy framework in Singapore, and featured a presentation by HE Mr. Dileep Nair Dileep Nair was the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Internal Oversight Services and head of the United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services. In that capacity, he oversaw investigations of wrong doings related to the United Nations in a range of countries , Consul-General of Singapore. Using the Singapore model, Mr. Nair's presentation discussed the relationship between free market principals, behavioural Adj. 1. behavioural - of or relating to behavior; "behavioral sciences"

 economics and public policy in the areas such as transport policy, public housing, healthcare and education, towards achieving desired outcomes of growth, jobs, equity and the meeting of social objectives.

Al-Emaratia Forum is a key program component of the UAE Women Leadership Program, a unique interactive two-year initiative aimed at equipping e·quip

 women with the skills and expertise required to be successful leaders. Al-Emaratia Forum is an innovative and significant forum that aims at empowering working Emarati women to discuss challenges and opportunities faced within the public sector from local, regional and global points of view. Its purpose is to develop and enhance networks that strengthen knowledge, experience and skills in the core areas of Leadership and Strategy; Leadership Policy; Change Leadership and Management as well as Leadership and Effective Communication.

Commenting on the Forum, Aisha Al Suwaidi, Director of DWE Women Leadership Development Department, said: "Al-Emaratia Forum aims at nurturing the leadership qualities of working Emarati women through quality exposure to government authority discussions, public sector initiatives as well as social and business leaders - engaging with issues and dialogues that can facilitate leadership development and maximize the potential for Emarati women to be vital contributors towards the UAE's strategic developmental needs. Al-Emaratia Forum seeks to prepare participants of the UAE Women Leadership Program to serve as agents of change as well as role models for all UAE working women."

Adel Al Shared, Executive Chairman of Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Leadership Development (MBRCLD) added: "Related authorities should participate in the development of governmental policies, taking into consideration all the varying needs and requirements of different groups, including women. We seek to achieve our objective in supporting women and empowering them to enhance their capabilities and self-confidence in order to play an efficient role in implementing these policies in the various governmental departments. The participation of the Consul-General of Singapore in Al-Emaratia Forum encourages the development of the leadership skills of participants in DWE's U.A.E Women Leadership Program, especially considering that Mr. Nair has extensive experience in developing public policies in Singapore, in addition to occupying senior leading positions in the private sector and the UN".

Before being appointed as Singapore's Consul-General in Dubai, Mr. Nair was the undersecretary-General for Internal Oversight Services at the United Nations for five years. Prior to his career at the United Nations, Mr. Nair served as Managing Director of the Development Bank of Singapore and as Chief Executive Officer of the Post Office Savings Bank The Post Office Savings Bank may refer to:
