Rashed Al Ansari, vice-president of Dubai Industrial City, said: "Five major clients have already leased the first phase, and the high level of interest has encouraged us to dedicate an even bigger second phase for open storage to meet the escalating demand. We plan to have the second phase operational within the next couple of months.

"Many of our clients have expressed their desire to use the open storage yards as a cost effective solution for storing their equipment and tools instead of opting for warehouses. Our facilities were designed with such investors in mind and our success is a clear indication of our ability to meet the various operational needs of the business community in Dubai."

Rashed also noted: "The open storage yards will further help put an end to the haphazard storing of containers and the parking of trucks and trailers on the sides of highways which is an eye sore and traffic hazard."
