The Du Pont family's importance began when Eleuthère Irénée Du Pont established a gunpowder mill on the will consolidate its global chlorosulfonated polyethylene polyethylene (pŏl'ēĕth`əlēn), widely used plastic. It is a polymer of ethylene, CH2=CH2, having the formula (-CH2-CH2-)n (CSM CSM - ["CSM - A Distributed Programming Language", S. The Beaumont plant will also be upgraded in anticipation of its conversion to a non-ozone depleting process solvent. Currently, Du Pont produces CSM at plants in Maydown, Northern Ireland Northern Ireland: see Ireland, Northern. A CSM pilot facility in Maydown will start-up in April to demonstrate another manufacturing process designed to produce a broader range of higher performance CSM products for coatings and adhesives. In the second quarter, manufacturing trials of traditional CSM products will begin at Beaumont with a non-ozone depleting solvent. Customers will begin sampling this product later this year. Beaumont will then be upgraded through 1996 in anticipation of conversion to this non-ozone depleting solvent. |
