Drunk assaulted babysitter.
Edward Brown, 36, sank 20 pints on a day at Newcastle races before he turned up at the house where the teenager was alone with four children.
He repeatedly asked the 16-year-old for a kiss as she sat on the sofa and he even got down on his knees, said prosecutor Martina Connolly.
Then Brown, formerly of Coronation Road, Loftus, pulled her left arm behind her back and indecently assaulted her.
She later told her mother and Brown was arrested.
He said he had no recollection after his day out, Miss Connolly told Teesside Crown Court.
Miss Connolly added: "He apologised if he had actually done that to her."
The assault led Brown's fiancee to call off their wedding planned for two months later, and he left the area to work in Wales, said Peter Makepeace, defending.
The judge told Brown: "I am afraid an immediate term of imprisonment is necessary to mark the disapproval of the public for what you did that evening."
Brown was jailed for six months after he pleaded guilty to indecent assault on June 29.
