Drugs, alcohol and the brain.

Your brain is like a powerful computer. It can send, receive, organize. and store lots of information. But unlike a computer, your brain is made up of living tissue.

Illegal drugs and alcohol (beer, wine, whiskey, etc.) are like poison to the cells in your brain. These substances change the way the brain sends and receives important messages. Drugs and alcohol can even cause the brain to make mistakes when telling the heart and lungs how to work. The heart may begin to beat too fast or too slow. The heart and lungs can stop working altogether, causing severe physical and mental damage, or death.

Drugs and alcohol are extremely harmful to kids. Your brain is still developing. It is active learning and storing information. Illegal drugs and alcohol interfere with the brain's learning I and development. Your entire body and al its billions of cells depend on your brain. You can keep your brain healthy by staying away from drugs and alcohol.
