"This is a time for leaders, a time for celebration and a time for redefining the future," said Hesselbein. "For 12 years, Peter Drucker Peter Ferdinand Drucker (November 19, 1909–November 11, 2005) was a writer, management consultant and university professor. Drucker's experience includes consultations with vast organizations ranging from large corporations, nonprofits and national governments. It is these diverse sectors that LLI plans to target.

"We will continue to reach out and know that when we serve the social sector well, we are serving leaders in all three sectors around the world," Hesselbein explained.

She added that the name change was not due to a real or perceived lack of effectiveness by the organization. Rather, it was a decision made upon a periodic review of the foundation's mission. The goal has always been to ensure that it is the right mission for current times, Hesselbein said. "With this environment it just seemed the appropriate time to celebrate Peter's contribution and move into the future as Leader to Leader Institute."
