A CRAZED motorist who deliberately used his 4x4 to flatten a police car was jailed for six years yesterday.

Martin Davies was fleeing the officer after being spotted using his mobile at the wheel.

But after a high-speed chase, he slammed on his brakes, reversed his Nissan Terrano into PC Greg Parry's pounds 40,000 BMW twice and then tried to crush it by driving over the bonnet and roof.

As the police car began caving in, scrap metal dealer Davies, 28, yelled at him: "Come on, then! Come on!" PC Parry was initially trapped and feared for his life but was able to crawl out.

Jailing Davies at Swansea crown court, Judge Mark Furness QC said: "This was a frightening and shocking experience for the officer.

"It is remarkable that he suffered only minor injuries in the final collision."

Dad-of-two Davies, of Penlan, Swansea, admitted attempting to cause GBH and dangerous driving.
