Driver in court over death crash.Byline: By Megan Bolam A driver charged with killing a teenager while drunk in a tragic Christmas Eve smash was remanded in custody when he appeared in court yesterday. The 43-year-old man, from Newcastle, appeared before Bedlington magistrates charged with causing death by careless driving. He has been remanded in custody to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday. The 16-year-old boy, from Blyth, died in a collision as he rode his Guilera moped on the A189 Spine Road in Cramlington, Northumberland. The accident happened shortly after 10pm on Christmas Eve on the southbound carriageway carriageway Noun 1. Paramedics fought to save the life of the teenager but he died almost instantly. Gary Harrison, of Manor Grove, Cockfield, died after suffering multiple injuries when the Suzuki Swift The Suzuki Swift is a Supermini car manufactured by the Suzuki Motor Corporation. At it's introduction in 1985, it was named the SA-310, but in 1986 it was renamed the Swift. he was driving crashed into an oncoming vehicle on Staindrop Road, Cockfield. Police said the Suzuki was travelling towards Cockfield, near Bishop Auckland, at 4.40pm when it failed to negotiate a left hand band and collided with a Mercedes. No-one else was seriously injured.
