Driver blues.

Gasoline gasoline or petrol, light, volatile mixture of hydrocarbons for use in the internal-combustion engine and as an organic solvent, obtained primarily by fractional distillation and "cracking" of petroleum, but also obtained from natural gas, by  prices have reached the psychological barrier of $3 per gallon. Meanwhile, fuel-efficient cars have become available, and the Orange Line busway that will whisk commuters across the Valley is scheduled to open in coming months. So the Business Journal asks:

Are you thinking about changing your driving habits?

I'm currently trying to figure out a way to either shorten my workweek or work from home one day a week. Because of my position at the company, it's not easy to make those kinds of adjustments. Sometimes I'll leave later in the morning or leave later in me evening to avoid traffic and adjust my schedule around clients. I live in Ventura County and drive to Burbank and that's a 42-mile trip one way. With gas prices escalating, I've looked into possibly getting a hybrid version of the Honda I drive now.

No. I'm still going to go to work and do errands and do everything that I do already. I don't anticipate any changes. I work fairly close to home so gas prices don't impact me too much.

No. I drive to work and do the things I want to do. I'm really not changing that. I also don't drive a ton. Public transportation is not an option. It doesn't go anywhere where I want to go. It would be entirely inconvenient in·con·ven·ient

Not convenient, especially:
a. Not accessible; hard to reach.

b. Not suited to one's comfort, purpose, or needs: inconvenient to have no phone in the kitchen.
. I'm just not that sensitive to gas prices. It's not that huge of an expense compared to other expenses.

I have very little control over my driving habits because of the demands of my job. But I may change my car purchasing habits. I would consider getting a hybrid. I can't rely on public transportation because 1 often need to go see a client or go to court. But I would use a car that uses less gas. Now I drive a 1995 Mercedes that doesn't get good mileage. But I do live close to work.

No. It's necessary of course in the scope of my job that I go from point A to point B in a car. I drive a Lexus that gets excellent gas mileage Noun 1. gas mileage - the ratio of the number of miles traveled to the number of gallons of gasoline burned
fuel consumption rate, gasoline mileage, mileage

ratio - the relative magnitudes of two quantities (usually expressed as a quotient)
. I have a seven-mile commute TO COMMUTE. To substitute one punishment in the place of another. For example, if a man be sentenced to be hung, the executive may, in some states, commute his punishment to that of imprisonment.  to work. I'm a commercial realtor--if a client needs to see a building, I can't just wait for a bus.

I don't have much of a choice. I'm certainly carpooling and conserving on gas when possible. On the weekends or in my free time I carpool car·pool

with one or two people. I don't carpool to work. But when there are work events where I can afford the opportunity to carpool, I always do. I've used public transportation for years, like Metrolink, but when the city is more internally connected with buses and trains, I will certainly consider using it more.

I've actually just submitted a proposal to my company, asking that in lieu of Instead of; in place of; in substitution of. It does not mean in addition to.  my company car I would have a company helicopter. It's not going too well. The answer's no. Public transportation doesn't come to where I work from where I live, unless it's a bus that would take three hours.
