Drinks firm brings 24 jobs.


A new drinks company is set to bring 24 jobs to the area.

Works With Water Ltd, of Cuthbert Court, Bede Industrial Estate, South Shields South Shields, city (1991 pop. 86,488), South Tyneside, NE England, at the mouth of the Tyne River. It is a significant port. Shipbuilding and marine engineering are the main industries; chemicals and paints are manufactured. , is to launch a range of drinks which, it says, are the first of their kind in the UK.

South Tyneside South Tyneside is a metropolitan borough in Tyne and Wear in North East England.

It is bordered by four other boroughs - Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead to the west, Sunderland in the south, and North Tyneside to the north.
 Council's Economic Development Team has worked with the firm to create the jobs.

The company, run by managing director Willem van Hoorn and technical director Wayne Hayes, produces Xtream, a range of spring-water-based drinks containing the naturally-occurring fibre Inulin inulin /in·u·lin/ (in´ul-in) a starch occurring in the rhizome of certain plants, yielding fructose on hydrolysis, and used in tests of renal function.

Mr van Hoorn said: "We are very happy to establish our business in South Tyneside and we hope to create 24 jobs."

Coun Eddie McAtominey said: "If this product proves as popular as other such functional drinks, then South Tyneside could play a big role as a manufacturing base"
