Vauxhall Astra is a model-name which has been used by Vauxhall, the British subsidiary of General Motors (GM), on their small family car ranges since 1979.
 in Old Warwick Road, Leamington, on December 3, Leamington magistrates heard.

Pamela Meinert, prosecuting, said: "Police saw a car go past at speed which mounted the pavement twice before colliding with a traffic sign."

Geaney was given a roadside breath test which recorded 123 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath.

Defending, Paul O'Keeffe said: "He is an intelligent, hard working and very responsible family man, and feels he has let himself and his family down.

"He knows it was a very stupid decision and thankfully thank·ful
