Drilling Program Underway On The Lone Pine Property.

Atna Resources Ltd. (TSE:ATN.) is commencing a drilling program on its 100% owned Lone Pine property in Arizona.

The initial 4 holes, totaling approximately 2000 feet of NQ core, will target the down-dip extension of high-grade polymetallic mineralization of the old underground Lone Pine Mine. This drilling program was initiated following encouraging results from Atna's initial work, which included underground chip sampling and a transient electromagnetic (TEM) geophysical survey.

The Lone Pine Mine operated intermittently from the early 1900's to the 1950's. The deposit was mined to a depth of 200 feet, mostly in oxide ore. Historic records indicate ore grades of 6% Cu, 5% Zn, 1.5% Pb, 3 oz/T Ag and 0.2 oz/T Au. Assays from banded massive sulphide samples from the North Shaft dump gave high-grade values supporting this tenor of ore grade mineralization. There is no record of drilling beneath or lateral to the old workings. The geological setting, rock alteration and mineralization are typical of precious metal rich volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposits such as the nearby Iron King and Jerome mines.
