DreamWorks update.GE's NBC Universal NBC Universal is a media and entertainment company formed in May 2004 by the combination of General Electric's NBC with Vivendi Universal Entertainment (part of the French Media Group, Vivendi SA). GE owns 80% of NBC Universal with the remaining 20% owned by Vivendi SA. unit lowered its offer to acquire independent film studio DreamWorks to $1.45 billion from $1.6 billion. The purchase by NBC Universal would not include DreamWorks Animation SKG SKG Stichting Kwaliteit Gevelbouw (Dutch) SKG Spielberg, Katzenberg,and Geffen (DreamWorks Studios) SKG Thessaloniki, Greece - Thessaloniki (Airport Code) SKG Smith and Kraus Global Inc., which was spun off from the live action studio in October 2004 with an initial public offering. Earlier in the week, Paramount Pictures had also expressed interest in DreamWorks, but parent company Viacom Inc. nixed the talks, the Los Angeles Times Los Angeles Times Morning daily newspaper.
