Mr Dean, 73, said: "The QE2 is the last great liner - the new ones will not touch her."
Mrs Dean, 71, said: "I cried all the way down the Mersey. There is a great atmosphere on board and lots of different nationalities. The trip has been fantastic.
"When I was a girl, I used to watch the liners going out with the people emigrating to Canada and Vera Lynn playing on the gramophone."
Daughter Liz, who brought along youngsters Nadya, Georgia and Edward, said: "It has been my mum's dream to sail down the Mersey on a ship like this."
