DraCo Systems and Medea Corporation partner to bring Medea's acclaimed VideoRaid high-capacity, high-speed RAID solution to users of Casablanca, DraCo's premier non-linear video editing system. S-VHS introduced the S-video interface, which separated the luma from the color (see S-video).  video - for creating multiple or very large video projects.

"Medea's new VideoRaid Casablanca brings our owners terrific new capacity, with the same reliability and ease of use they've come to expect from all DraCo products," noted DraCo Systems president, Eric Kloor. "Just like the Casablanca, it `Works Right Out of the Box,' with true plug-and-play simplicity."

VideoRaid Casablanca is housed in a black case to harmonize with the sophisticated look of the Casablanca. It connects directly into the Casablanca's SCSI port and is automatically recognized and formatted by DraCo's system software to provide trouble-free plug-and-play operation. VideoRaid Casablanca is available in 26 GB, 51 GB, and 67 GB capacities and is priced at $2050, $3050 and $3850 respectively. VideoRaid Casablanca is available now from DraCo Systems and Casablanca dealers.

"We're delighted to be partnering with DraCo Systems to supply customized VideoRaid disk arrays for long format video productions using Casablanca," said Stuart P. Mabon, president of Medea Corporation.

The Casablanca, housed in a VCR-style case, is a complete stand-alone video editing See nonlinear video editing and video editor.  system with capabilities that were previously available only on systems costing many times the retail purchase price of $3,995. The system has defined a new category of non-linear video editors and is considered a cost/performance breakthrough in digital video editing devices.

The Casablanca features an intuitive user interface that is optimized for the fully integrated hardware system, in contrast to other digital editing systems that require separate computer, software and add-on boards and often present hardware and software configuration conflicts.

The Casablanca has attracted a broad spectrum of users, from sophisticated professional event and corporate videographers to elementary and college level students and teachers who may be exploring video editing for the first time.

The Casablanca was designed for ease of installation, learning and use. It features a removable internal hard drive and storage capacities up to 18GB that can accommodate a wide range of output qualities, including VHS (Video Home System) A half-inch, analog videocassette recorder (VCR) format introduced by JVC in 1976 to compete with Sony's Betamax, introduced a year earlier. , Hi-8, S-VHS, DV and Beta SP, as well as an external SCSI connector There have been a large variety of SCSI connectors in use at one time or another in the computer industry. Probably no computer interconnect (with the possible exception of RS-232 serial) has caused as much confusion.  that allows the VideoRaid Casablanca to simply plug right in.
